SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
Rheumatology 2009 : Reviewand
Discussion
In the first half hour, one presenter will review the years mostimportant
developments on a given topic, including informationfrom the
published literature and updates from the key scientificmeetings
and congresses. For the second 30 minutes of the session,a panel
of 1 or 2 other expert rheumatologists will provide commentaryon
the topic, with input and comment from the audience.
Basic Science
An expert presenter will review the basic science aspects of
selectedkey topics, and review the clinical implications of this
work.There will be 10 minutes of the session reserved for questionsand
answers.
Hot Topics
One lecturer will give a 15 minute lecture, followed by 5 minutescounterpoint
by another expert, with 10 minutes reserved for questionsand
answers
Cases for the Panel
Two rheumatologists plus a moderator, with challenging cases
elicitedprior from attendees and faculty. Cases will be topic
focused.
Round Tables
Two faculty each. Sessions will be repeated 10:30 am - 11:30
am;11:30 am -12:30 pm.
Seminars
One faculty member presenting a review of a key topic. 20 minuteslecture,
10 minutes for discussion and questions and answers.
Afternoon Workshops
These 90 minute sessions will cover practical issues relevantto
the clinic. Several will be hands on, with patients. Otherswill
be a lecture and discussion format, with the goal of allowingclinicians
to learn about novel techniques.
